Our team has solid foundation in next-generation sequencing (NGS) research:
Our team has sufficient knowledge and clinical patient samples in clinics and years of hands-on experiences in cell biology, molecular biology, NGS-based research, and bioinformatic analysis. We will extend our expertise to patients with lipid and sugar abnormalities to study genetic variants/mutations in KMUH and set up a platform of high-throughput NGS.
KMUH Nephrology division is equipped with high-throughput library preparation equipment:
We recently purchased the Fluidigm Access Array System. This is the first high-throughput, target-enrichment system designed to work with all of the major next-generation sequencing instruments. This system enables us to enrich multiple unique targets (such as exons) from a large number of samples, all at one time. The system combines the cost and throughput benefits to perform 1) target enrichment, 2) sample barcoding for multiplexed sequencing, and 3) sequencing library prep for NGS. Amplicon based NGS library preparation is versatile, more sensitive and cheaper than capture-based NGS library preparation. We have ample experiences of this system and are willing to collaborate with other divisions in the campus.
