Diabetes and Dyslipidemia Symposium

Summary of symposium

Dyslipidemia and diabetes cause cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and moreover are associated with the development of chronic kidney disease. Malignancy and infection also can induce their specific profiles of lipids and glucose abnormality. Within recent 10 years, these diseases have been the leading causes of death in our country. Diabetes is even the major cause of hemodialysis in Taiwan. However, the mechanisms of diabetes and dyslipidemia-induced vascular and kidney injury are not still elucidated. In this symposium, five lecturers, including Professor Zhang from University of Montreal, will present their novel research results in mechanisms by which high glucose and atherogenic-lipoprotein cause kidney damage. Their progress may translate into effective therapeutics in dyslipidemia and diabetes-associated diseases. We sincerely expect your participation to present your research and clinical experience to make this symposium beneficial to healthcare for people with diabetes and dyslipidemia.

研討會摘要目的

Dyslipidemia 和糖尿病造成心血管、腦血管,甚至慢性腎臟病變和脂肪肝疾病。癌症和感染也引起脂質和葡萄糖代謝異常有關。最近十多年來,這些疾病已成為我國國人的主要死因。糖尿病更成為我國尿毒症接受血液透析的第一主要原因,但是他們造成這些疾病的致病過程,以及更理想的治療方法都還有待研究和發展。

這次研討會,由加拿大蒙特婁大學(University of Montreal) Professor Shao-Liang Zhang 和四位教授特別演講他們最新的研究成果。

他們將著重在糖尿病和脂質異常造成腎臟病變的新機轉,例如新致病訊息蛋白,表基因因子等。這些成果都可能轉譯成為將來防治糖尿病和脂質異常造成腎臟或心血管疾病的新治療。竭誠歡迎大家蒞臨參加,提供您們寶貴的研究及臨床經驗及結果。
